Making it to IIT's - Clearing IIT-JEE
The IIT JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is India’s premier national engineering entrance exam, consisting of two stages: JEE Main (screening for NITs, etc.) and JEE Advanced (gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology – IITs). Conducted by the NTA, it tests Physics, Chemistry, and Math for admission to top engineering, architecture, and other technical courses, known for its rigorous, competitive nature and online format, demanding strong time management and conceptual clarity.
Basic Information About the IITs and their Joint Entrance Exam
JEE Main : The first level, conducted twice a year (Jan/Apr), determines eligibility for JEE Advanced and offers admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other state-level colleges.
JEE Advanced : The final stage, held once a year, is exclusively for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
PURPOSE
- To select candidates for undergraduate engineering (B.Tech), architecture (B.Arch), and integrated programs.
- To provide a platform for students to showcase their talent for admission to India’s top technical institutions.
Pattern of the IIT-JEE
- Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
- Format: Primarily Computer-Based Test (CBT) with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Value Type questions.
- Syllabus: Covers Class 11 & 12 PCM topics.
Eligibility for the IIT-JEE
Candidates appearing in (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination, must secure at least 60%(55% for SC/ST and PD) marks in aggregate in their respective Board Examination.
A student can have only two attempts to write the JEE in the year in which he or she passes the XIIth standard examination and/or in the following year.
Candidates who join any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi, and ISM, Dhanbad through JEE will not be permitted to appear for JEE in future
